Cycling

I am a member of the Brighton & Hove Clarion Cycling Club. Over the years I have led many rides in Sussex and occasionally beyond. I prepare detailed directions to enable me or anyone else to follow the route, and after each ride I upload the corresponding file to this website so that the ride can be repeated. I also upload rides created by others in the club, with their permission. Feel free to try any of them out if you want! For some rides I have drawn the route on a map and photographed it – these maps can be accessed via a link following the link to the ride details.

(Note that the more recent files are based on a spreadsheet which calculates mileages and durations on the basis of a practice ride, with adjustments to the timing to take into account the relative slowness of a club ride compared with an individual. This is why the times appear to be ridiculously accurate – in Excel, you can multiply a time by a “stretch factor” but you can’t then round it up or down!)

“Description” files: 

These tell you a bit about the rides. They bear the date of the most recent “outing” of the ride, together with other information which may be out of date. But at least they give you the general idea. As uploading these files is a tedious business, I am doing it a few at a time over several days.
